Frankenweenie (REBOOT - 2012) **

2sur5 As always, we'll talk "back" (back!) Burton, creative crossing the desert is over - or it's coming immediately after this unexpected outburst, that is obvious! Like the 1984 model, short hysterical himself already curiously placid surface in spite of himself, Frankenweenie 2012 version takes very faithfully the figure and the world of Frankenstein, into the cabinet. This much flavor of truth, Burton should adopt instead of just salivating before him.
As Dark Shadows, Frankenweenie 2012 is a kind show - and this is what happen now Burton. However, already less shimmery but we appreciate some flashes scattered in a threadbare. The last-thirds, with small gargoyles dropped in the city ("Angels of the Sea"), shall be true vocation and the true potential of the film défouloir playful, and graphically pleasing browned. A film for the holiday season, rather than for the Halloween period when it was released.
The beautiful book, institutional and conservative despite the illusions in which its authors cradle. They take the audience with them, it is because the product is only fair and Burton still believes in him burns a flame revolutionary truth, this is a totally iconoclastic fervor squeezed under control and labeled. Frankenweenie (1984) **

3sur5 Tim Burton has not made Pee Wee, his first feature, when manufactures Frankenweenie, medium-length construction and style similar to The Twilight Zone, in an infant version and talkative. The introduction is completely (and deliberately) outdated, anchored in a petit-bourgeois delighted with the nursery and happily assimilated into the American way of life as anachronistic.

Burton mocked candor that is also the subject of his inspiration and blatant protection, since it is a case which he never really falls apart. The dog's death comes quickly, then his burial in a highly expressionistic and gothic, but Burton never takes its independence vis-à-vis the theater of clowns sketched with nonchalance. After all, the man is obviously too candid to feed a real malice, even against this outrageous cast of characters, braggarts and intolerant neighbors.

The author clearly identifies the boy dreamer and iconoclastic, ready to defy the laws of nature, more out of curiosity and thirst for discovery or suspicion by greed, notions entirely foreign to his behavior. Caught between parents gentle and loving, but totally naive and too conciliatory, and neighbors hysterical pretty stupid, selfish and malicious, the child bears the character of the smoothest of all this universe. A strength of this emphasis purity, Burton creates a nice little character, but banal and indistinct, in which every child will project easily shy.

As Edward, we find a being morbidly sensitive and different (Sparky the dog - and his owner because they are treated as two facets of the same entity), who eventually died for false to guard the fury Hicks with pitchforks and hatred.
